Elder Joseph W. Schindler -- The Czech Republic

I have created a blog to make it easier to share information about Joseph and his mission to the Czech Republic. I hope you enjoy Joseph's experiences and reflections as much as we do!

[Here is our latest letter from Joseph! Joseph's editor - BWS]

Dear Friends and Family,
This week went rather well. We had some challenges, but overall, it was a success.
First of all, Ouina, the Mongolian Woman we are teaching, came to church with her grandson. It was a little hard for her because her grandson is quite energetic. But she was able to come and the branch was very welcoming and helped her where they could. We think she had a good experience, but we have not been able to visit her yet and see what she thought of it. Also, while on the topic of Mongolian investigators, Elder Peterson and I were able to meet with some potential investigators we have been trying to see for a while. There names are Ochir and Aggy, and while they are Mongolian, they have been living here with their daughters for over fifteen years, and speak excellent Czech (they speak much better than I do). They are very kind and were very welcoming and our meeting with them went very well. Ochir, the father, reads in the Bible and they thought that the Book of Mormon sounded very good. Ochir said that he did not think he could read the whole book before our meeting on Thursday, but we assured him he did not need to have read the whole Book of Mormon read by then. They are a wonderful family and I am excited to meet with them again.
We also met with a girl named Nikola this week. She attends the Catholic High School here in Třebíč, but is not a Christian believer. She had some really good questions about why we believe what we believe, how we are different from the Catholic Church, and so forth. She has genuine interest, and though she is rather busy, agreed to meet with us again this week. She is a very cool girl and we hope to help her understand why the Book of Mormon is so important for everyone on the Earth.
Vlasta Němcová, our investigator with a Baptismal Date, was unable to make it to church this week because she promised her daughter that she would rest and take it easy. We were sad she was unable to attend, but we are planning on meeting with her this week with one of the members, and hopefully, we can find a member who can drive her to church so that it is very easy for her next week.
On a more temporal note, our fridge stopped working last Monday. As a result, we were without a fridge until Saturday. We ended up taking our food to a member's house and we ate a lot of bread and nutella this week. Our new fridge is about half the size of the old one, but the old one did not keep food very cold, so I think that the new one will work better for us. I learned that having a fridge is quite a nice thing, although I still have not used the dishwasher we have. I am not sure that appliance is totally neccessary.
I got the package you sent on July 3rd, Dad. [It's about time!!! BWS] Thanks for the picture of Weston and the letters and the Ensign. It was good to get them. Could you all send me some more pictures of all of you, so that I could show the people we meet. Could you send me pictures of Daniel at a tennis match and Andrew at play practice. That would be nice.
Well, I love you all. You are great. Do not forget that the Gospel is true and that if you ever need help, Christ is there for you. Just turn to Him and rely on Him.
Love,
Elder Joseph Schindler
