Dearest Family,
This week I do not have as many items to add as I did last time, but I will make the attempt to share with you what I have been doing and how the missionary work here is going.
Our new apartment is fairly large, as it is the top floor of a normal, Czech home (which is also a duplex). We have two balconies, which makes working out in the mornings much more pleasant as it is cool and bright with plenty of fresh air. The apartment is well put together, although we must go down to the slightly creepy basement is order to wash our clothing in the washing machine down there. I spent this early morning going through many of our shelves, deciding which things should be thrown away, as they will never be used (old medicine, broken tapes, random former belongings of missionaries long past and so forth). Hopefully that will all be in order soon, as I pulled many things on to the floor and our apartment looks rather messy at the moment. The move went well though and we are well settled into our quaint apartment on Machová street.
We are right now meeting with two investigators, both of whom are named Miloslav. Miloslav Rybák is doing well and we have been meeting with him for several weeks. He enjoys learning about the gospel and has now been to sacrament meeting for the past six Sundays. He is also well integrated into the branch with activities and members and is progressing well. He continues to battle smoking, but is making progress. We are excited for him
Miloslav Šir is also doing well. Due to business conflicts, he could not attend church yesterday, but we had a wonderful lesson with him last week. He wants to learn so much and is also very patient. I feel that we were able to establish expectations very well with him, especially that he can not understand our message all at once. He wants to know as much as he can, but he completely understands that it will take time and is both willing and desirous to wait for that. He once again took detailed notes and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to make progress.
On Friday this last week, Elder Darrington and I worked on collecting cherries from a member's cherry tree and then passed them out to less active members on Saturday. They were very happy to receive the cherries and we even saw one woman in particular who I am sure only let us in because we had such a gift, which turned out to bring back fond memories of her childhood and her own father's cherry trees.
The Sisters are preparing for a baptism in their area for this upcoming Saturday. Her name is Mirka and is very excited for the upcoming chance to become clean, as she said. The district is full of hope for this and we are so glad to be down here in ČBUD.
Well that was last week. Thank you for your letters of support and love and I love you. I actually heard from everyone this week except for Weston (still do not have those pictures). I would love to hear from all of you next week.
Love,
Elder Schindler
